WHAT IS JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT? JA Worldwide? (Junior Achievement) is the world?s largest organization dedicated to educating students in grades K-12 about entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.
Junior Achievement programs help to prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action, and learn the value of contributing to their communities.
PURPOSE: JA Worldwide's purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.
PROGRAM REACH: JA Worldwide reaches approximately 7.5 million students per year in 305,000 classrooms and after-school locations. JA programs are taught by volunteers in inner cities, suburbs, and rural areas throughout the United States of America and in 100 other countries around the world.
VOLUNTEERS: JA Worldwide's 245,000 classroom volunteers around the world come from all walks of life and include business people, college students, parents, and retirees. These dedicated individuals are the backbone of the organization.
PROVEN SUCCESS: JA is one of a few global non-profits to use independent, third-party evaluators to gauge the impact of its programs. Since 1993, independent evaluators have conducted studies on JA?s effectiveness. Findings prove that JA has a positive impact in a number of critical areas. These results are available, for free, upon request.

STARS is a school-based program with a mission of encouraging students to make healthy choices and refrain from the use of tobacco, alcohol, other drugs and violence.
STARS is celebrating the 25 year anniversary with a dinner and silent auction scheduled for Tuesday, February 20 6:30 pm at the Chattanooga Convention and Trade Center. The keynote speaker for the event will be Mr. Bill Curry, ESPN analyst, legendary football player and coach, and new Executive Director of Leadership Baylor.

Riverbend Festival

Riverbend began in 1981 with the intention of bringing diverse elements of the Chattanooga community together through the common language of music.
The festival site began as a narrow walkway along the Tennessee River at Ross's Landing. Originally known as Five Nights in Chattanooga, Riverbend has grown to nine nights, with six stages and more than 100 performing artists.
Downtown development was also a major goal of the festival, and since it's inception in 1981, there has been major revitalization of the downtown area, as evidenced by the Tennessee Aquarium, IMAX Theatre, Creative Discovery Museum, Jack's Alley, Riverboat Tours, the new Chattanooga Lookouts Stadium and countless fine restaurants, shops and tourist attractions.
Festival attendance speaks of Riverbend's success, with capacity crowds in excess of 650,000. Many individual evenings see over 80,000 people attend the festival.
Now celebrating it's 27th year, Riverbend has grown to become Chattanooga's most beloved event, and it ranks in the top 10% of festivals in the country. Riverbend recently won two national awards from the International Festivals and Events Association.
